Eating healthy can drive you mad if you don’t do it right. I know – I’ve been there… The best way around it is to be prepared, and to include the foods that you enjoy eating. This is where making healthier food choices is essential, so that you can still enjoy a treat, whilst it not being so bad for your health.
If you are sick of your boring chicken and broccoli meals it may be time to expand your baking skills.
This post gives you all the info on how to make your own chocolate protein cookies.
Let’s have a look at the ingredients and their nutritional benefits.
What’s so healthy about this Chocolate Protein Cookies Recipe?
This recipe is a bit unusual as the main ingredient used is Chickpeas. Then instead of normal flour we use coconut flour, and off course, to add some further nutritional value to it, we add protein powder.
1. Chick Peas
You may know chick peas as ‘garbanzo beans’ and you may have used them to make your own humous but did you know that a recent study has shown that when including chick peas in a meal, you will feel more satisfied and therefore require less snacks during the day.
They are full of fibre and two cups should satisfy your daily value! Learn more about chick peas here.
2. Protein Powder
For the below recipe you can use your favourite protein powder. I used Optimum Nutrition Whey Chocolate so if you use a chocolate flavoured protein powder you’ll get that extra bit of chocolate flavour! Just remember that the raw cacao does the majority of the job though. Generally protein powders are jam packed with protein varying from 25 up to 30 grams of protein per serve. It is protein that helps you feel full longer and aids in the right nutrition for muscle growth.
3. Coconut Flour
I prefer using new modern flours such as coconut and almond, as their nutritional value is much higher than regular flour.
