How My DNA Test Transformed My Approach to Health

In this video, I’m diving into how a recent DNA test gave me life-changing insights into my health—helping me better understand inflammation, detoxification, and nutritional deficiencies. DNA testing has come a long way, and the newer tests can now sequence and test for so much more, which has been incredibly valuable on my healing journey.

1️⃣ Detoxification Challenges:
I discovered that both my phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification pathways are affected. This means my body struggles to process and eliminate toxins effectively. To support my detoxification, I’ve made lifestyle changes like:

  • Avoiding microplastics by drinking from glass or aluminum bottles.
  • Limiting exposure to toxic fumes (like petrol) by delegating tasks like filling up my car.
  • Reducing exposure to char-grilled foods and other environmental toxins.

The Lesson: Control what’s within your reach—whether it’s your environment or your mindset. Small, intentional steps add up.

2️⃣ Inflammation Awareness:
Reducing inflammation has been a game-changer for my ADHD and PMDD symptoms. Research shows that cutting down on processed foods and sugars can significantly reduce inflammation, so I’ve focused on:

  • A nutrient-dense diet.
  • Omega-3 supplementation (1200mg EPA + 900mg DHA daily).

The Results: I’ve noticed a significant improvement in focus, mood, and energy.

3️⃣ The MTHFR Gene Variation:
This discovery explained why standard B vitamins weren’t working for me. With the MTHFR variation, my body can’t process non-methylated forms of vitamin B. Now, I take methylated B vitamins like methylcobalamin, which my body can actually use.
